Lakhipur Co-District, strategically located in Assam - Manipur frontier, is bounded by in the east by the state of Manipur, west – Silchar Sadar, north – Dima Hasao Autonomous District and in south – Sonai Circle. The Barak river just enters the plains in Lakhipur and flows through the co-district with some of the breathtaking views. The National Waterway 16 starts from Lakhipur and continues till Bhanga in Karimganj district. The Co-District has been maintaining a unique unity in diversity although inhabited by different communities, caste, language, religion, traditions making it a perfect melting pot of cultures.
